Sony Working on Wireless HDTV for PS3
Sony, Hitachi, Motorola, Samsung Electronics and Sharp have all got together to set up an joint industry development body to bring the Wireless Home Digital Interface (WHDI) as a standard by the end of this year.

What the flip is WHDI? Well, according to the Israel-based Amimon company on whose technology the standard is to be based, "A key ingredient of WHDI technology is a revolutionary video-modem that operates in the 5GHz unlicensed band to enable robust wireless delivery of uncompressed HD video (including 1080p).

"WHDI allows secure, encrypted HD video delivery through multiple rooms and other potential signal obstructions, such as people and furniture, while maintaining superb quality and robustness with less than one-millisecond latency."

Sitting on the board of Amimon is Dr. David Lee, the founder of the HDMI standard, so this looks like more than hot air.

According to information provided by the nascent group, "The objective of this special interest group is to enhance the current WHDI technology to enable wireless streaming of uncompressed HD video and audio between consumer electronics (CE) devices such as LCD and plasma HDTVs, multimedia projectors, A/V receivers, DVD and BD players, set-top boxes (STBs), game consoles, and PCs. The new interoperable standard aims to ensure that CE devices manufactured by different vendors will simply and directly connect to one another."

Of course, with the all-new, Sir Howard Stringer inspired joined-up Sony Corp, the PlayStation 3 is front and centre. According to Noam Geri, co-founder of Amimon, "If you have a TV in the home, that TV will be able to access any source in the home, whether it's a set-top box in the living room, or the PlayStation in the bedroom, or a DVD player in another bedroom."

You can even see a little old PS3 sucking in WHDI signals in the movie below from Amimon.

For this to work successfully,

we need to see full two way signals, no interference ever, able to stream multiple sources to multiple displays, this then also brings in to question existing equipment should easily be adapted, a remote control based system that controls everything from everywhere (harmony??), and everything will need this from standard from day one.

Itís a big request but could work very nice should it all come together now all we need it a wireless power cables

I have a design for a domestic wireless power solution.

Unfortunately, it will require you to have a rather expensive subterranean retro-fit to your house and will require the removal of all ferrous loose-objects. Purely as a safety precaution, you understand... no one needs a pair of nail scissors flying across the room at 300 mph.

Actually, have a very stubborn stone stuck in my Hike Club left boot and require something to dislodge it. A single nail scissor flying across the room at 300mph might do the trick.

Mind you don't have an eye out.

As for your big spinning magnets, DoctorDee - there may be a better way.

Powermat maybe a bit safer than your last suggestion, but still, I think if it takes off, I should get my fillings changed, just in case of unwanted energisation.
Albert ring wearers, should also, beware of the coming powermat revolution.

It's okay, I know he's a boy. I was going for a tiny cock/clitoris joke, which I knew would be too obscure for him, but obviously it was for everyone else as well :)

I'm glad we can all bond on things like this.

oh no, i got it. it wasnt really a comment on you calling him a girl per se, its because quite a few people think he is a girl. that is all.

And just exactly what is wrong with thinking someone is a girl? Oh, I see what you mean... it's about people thinking this guy is a girl and not that being a girl is wrong per se.

I hope. Or there's eye-scratching going to happen.

I can say, quite categorically on behalf of all red-blooded men everywhere, that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a girl.

Unless you're trying to play on my DS when I'm on the last level of Advance Wars and you want to see if there's anything new in Tom Nook's recently-expanded shop, what the f**k do I look like to you? Debenhams? If I wanted to watch you buy curtains I'd have come shopping with you and your Mum last Saturday instead of having gone to watch Iron Man again with my mates, speaking of which, why have you been stopping me from seeing my friends lately? It never used to be like this, and, by the way, what the f**k is with these big knickers you've started wearing since you moved in? Who the f**k am I sleeping with here - Bridget Jones? And no it is not okay that you use all the bathroom towels and have moved the condiments into a sensible place in the kitchen, I PUT THEM THERE BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE THEY LIVE! THEY LIKE IT THERE! And no, you can't f**king play on Animal f**king Crossing. Buy your own DS.

They do f**king come in pink these days you know. WOMEN!

There are times when lesbianism is more than an option...

Boys are so frustrating. Handhelds are so tiny and uninspiring. Animal Crossing is so wet.

Yes but a DS with a vibration cart, cant buy a round of drinks, `Drums` and "Thank you and goodnight", in the late Bernard Manning voice.
