Sony's Wrong Number for PS3 Update

You've got to laugh... really.

Posted by Staff
Earlier today we posted up the fact that SCEE had officially announced the arrival of the PS3's firmware update 2.41. This is the update that is aimed at enabling the 'limited' number of PlayStation 3 owners whose consoles were challenged (or somesuch word) by the quickly withdrawn firmware version 2.40 last week.

So, we printed the announcement, which included the information that:

"If you have updated to version 2.40 and have experienced the problem that the XMB™(XrossMediaBar) is not appearing, or no images are displaying on the screen, please contact your local Customer Services (07805 99 88 77 in the UK - check any game manual for your region)."

Off we went for tea and Hobnobs only to be kicked in the ribs by SPOnG forum contributor, Paul, who reminded us that:

"the customer number is 08705 998877 not 07805 :)"

Cheers Paul.

Of course, that number will be in your manual... but we thought we'd pass it on anyway just to be sure - and so you didn't think it was down to us.

It's probably not even PS3 firmware, if it was intended for the PSP, that'd explain the issues :-)

Note to visitors from N4G: That's a joke!

If some people hate the comments I sometimes make then they should try looking at the comments on N4G...Its diabolical.

I hate commenting on that place anymore.

I know I was laughing my ass off about the firmware issue Sony had but I know software is not their field of expertise its hardware, it would be great if we could use Sony's hardware creating abilities, Microsoft's input as well without the huge cost cutting leading to certain issues and Microsofts software to create a superb machine but oh well.

This update for the PS3 is a very big update and to implement this is a huge step forward but you have to be fair and say what Sony have pretty much done so far has been a copy off of Microsoft which isn't a bad thing because I am still looking forward to how HOME turns out which is something no other console has.

The one feature about HOME I am interested in the most is apparently the ability to talk to people that cannot speak English or fluently and it converts what you say into their language and vice versa.
