The highly-anticipated third instalment of the real driving simulator, Gran Turismo, is almost through localisation. Despite fears that Sony would hold the game back for a Christmas release, a date of July 13th has been set. Circle the date on your calendar, raid your savings account, do whatever it takes. GT3 is the first ‘must-have’ title for PlayStation 2.
We have been playing a Jap import of the game for weeks, and we can confirm that hidden deep within the code of GT3 lay the ultimate racing machines: Formula One cars. These super-secret cars are ridiculously fast, and they gain and lose speed much more quickly than GT’s stable of road cars. They can also nail corners, enabling you to make up your own racing lines. But it takes a lot to acquire one! You’ll need to plan your pitstops and conserve your tyres against degradation to win an endurance race. Then, after 90 laps of sweat-inducing racing you will have a one-in-four chance of driving away in one of these beasts.
GT3’s quality, six-player link-up option and force feedback steering wheel compatibility will have gamers racing to buy a PS2!
