HD-DVD might have reached the early stages of rigor mortis, but that hasn't stopped Microsoft poking at the format's corpse with a stick. A new firmware update has been released for gamers using their Xbox 360 and HD-DVD peripheral.
Over on his blog, Microsoft's online mascot, Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb tells us:
"If you have an Xbox 360 HD DVD player, you’ll be prompted for an auto update the next time you watch an HD DVD movie (and your are signed into Xbox Live.)
"This update includes:
* Compatibility improvements with certain titles
* Additional support for network features"
SPOnG, for one, hopes the update will turn our HD-DVD peripheral into a Blu-ray player.
