It looks like public access to the Home beta on the PlayStation 3 may be coming soon.
Scans of what is claimed to be the latest issue of
PlayStation: The Official Magazine from the US have emerged on the PlayStation forums that quote SCEA's senior director of PSN, Susan Panico, as saying, “We’ll be opening up the Home beta to the public very soon and hope to see you there.”
The scan also shows Panico saying, “It puts a human face onto social networking, but in this case, the social structure is based on a common passion – games. It’s made for gamers by gamers. The initial goal for Home is to facilitate communication and enhance the game experience. Home allows people to strategize, launch into games, and come back into Home to talk about it. Its core value is a 'For the people, of the people, by the people' philosophy and we want to achieve this in the most entertaining way possible."
Sounds nice, doesn't it?
Of course, there's always the possibility that the scans are fake. The poster attracted criticism thanks to the magazine allegedly being the May edition, but several other posters have chimed in to say they also received the magazine. It's also standard practice in publishing to put the month
after an issue is released on the cover.
SPOnG contacted Sony for confirmation, but no comment was available at the time of press.
