Sony KNOWS You Want In-Game XMB On PS3
While each firmware update for the PS3 may see Sony fans' hopes collectively climb then sag as we don't get in-game access to the cross media bar (XMB), Sony's listening to us.

Speaking in an interview, the PlayStation Network's director of operations, Eric Lempel, said:

"We are looking at a number of enhancements related to accessing some of the XMB features during gameplay, including messaging your friends. While there's no timeline to announce at this point, we've heard loud and clear from consumers that in-game XMB access is one of the most requested PS3 enhancements."

Of course, there's still no date to pin on it, but we can all rest a little easier knowing that Sony's listening. Instant messaging will be a welcome addition to the PSN, too.

Once the feature is released and it works then that will make the gap much smaller against Xbox Live.

And once Sony closes the gap on the differences between online PS gaming and Xbox Live gaming then we will have to see how Microsoft can continue to justify their £40 a year charge.

Personally I am not bothered by £3.33 a month cost but a reduction or free is what everyone always wants.

The reason why I do want Microsoft to charge is if there are issues with some lag online due to servers etc at least that way you can say 'Hey am paying for this sort it out!'

Who are these babies crying that they want features that are in a paid service for their free sevice. I want broadcast TV shows to be uncencored like on H.B.O., but it's not gonna happen. You guys keep asking Sony to be more like Xboxlive and they will, they'll slap you in the back of the head with a service charge.

I don't give a flying f**k if Sony want to start charging me for a decent online service. The fact that I have to quit my game in order to read/reply to a friend's instant message is just total 100% pure bullshit. As much as I love the PS3 (I think it has some of the best games ever made) the online service is laughable and needs this XMB bar to be accessible inside games. If that means paying them (which I doubt it does) I'd be more than for it. It might as well not even be online now with this fundamental feature lacking.
