The current
PS3 bundle offered by Sony may be a limited-time offer, according to an e-mail sent by Sony to a dissatisfied customer.
The customer, who was unhappy having bought a PS3 before the bundle was introduced, recieved the following message:
"I was sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with regards to the launch of the PlayStation 3 Starter Pack. I would like to take this opportunity to stress that this is a summer promotion and that due to the nature of this offer it will end on a predetermined date."
A Sony representative confirmed to SPOnG that the passage is from a genuine Sony e-mail. The message from Sony, however, was mixed. When we asked whether the current deal will, in fact, end at a "predetermined date", we were told "It's for the foreseeable future."
While the future of the bundle remains unclear, SPOnG will be extremely surprised if Sony reverts back to the pre-bundle price and package. If the bundle is a limited "offer" and set to end, it's more likely that Sony will replace it with another bundle or a price cut.
Sony has confirmed that in Australia the current deal - which is the same as ours - will end on August 31st.
