The PS3 has now sold over a million units in Japan, according to the latest figures from Japanese publisher Enterbrain.
The figures show that the PS3 (launched in Japan on November 11th) had sold 1.01 million units as of July 15th. Wii (launched on December 2nd in Japan) had sold 2.9 million by July 8th. The Xbox 360 (Japan launch, December 10th, 2005) trails behind as ever, with 420,705 units sold.
It's taken the PS3 six months longer to hit the 1 million mark than the Wii, which topped 1 million sales in Japan in early January – a little over a month after its launch.
Sony announced back in June that it had sold 1 million PS3s in Europe, beating the time it took both the PS2 and the PSOne to do the same.
The PS3's had a troubling time in Japan of late. Sales took a slight upturn earlier in July, breaking above the 'psychological' marker of 10,000 sales per week. It has consistently lagged behind the Wii, however, by as much as six to one.
Sony will no doubt have all available appendages crossed that when the added value PS3 bundle - which throws in a game, much like the European bundle - goes on sale in Japan PS3 sales will start to see some improvement.

PS3 is tomorrow's console... today.
Its main problem is that humankind's brains aren't ready for it yet. It's like technology from the future that's been kindly delivered to us early, and many are turning their noses up at it snootily, partly thanks to Microsoft convincing a few people that their ancient technology is actually pretty spiffing.
We should be ashamed.

yes it is a tomorrow's console out today and yes its been SLOW on the sales but as was the ps1/2 Sony have all ways been slow fist year but still people have always wanted them and iv seen that hear look in all the ps3 posts people are say to much get one when price drops hay i bet xmas Sony will have a fantastic time why every ones got there wii and there ds and are wanting something new but the 360 yes even with the new 120 elite coming out people are worried about the red ring of death as its been popping up every were the ps3 by xmas will have home out a lot of games come Sep Oct Nov so hay i think its going to pick up big on the seals front
