Xbox 360 Gets Tilt Control

Some assembly required

Niche-market peripherals manufacturer Talismoon has released a piece of kit that's set to bring tilt-control functionality to the 360.

The aptly-named Tiltboard comes in the form of the wee circuit board pictured to the right and requires a spot of DIY. Buyers of the kit will need to solder the board into their 360 controller themselves at seven points, so ham-fisted gamers need not apply.

Talismoon informs us, “The Tiltboard is an intelligent piece of kit and comes pre-loaded with TiltTune technology which is the most user friendly firmware available for such a device. Gamers have the option to adjust the tilt sensitivity, adjust the 0 degree in order to hold the controller at the most comfortable angle, invert the Y axis and turn the tilt function on and off.”

What's unclear is what games will actually be playable with the Tiltboard. Talismoon has left us wondering whether the task of providing games will fall to homebrew developers or whether existing games will work with the add-on.

It certainly doesn't seem to be providing as full a package as In2Games, which is promising software support for its GameTrak Fusion motion-sensing technology from both itself and third party developers.

SPOnG doesn't think that Nintendo needs to worry about losing its position as motion-sensing monarch just yet.

The Tiltboard is available for order here.

I think it works with existing games, me and my buddy were thinking about ordering a pair and giving them a whirl.
