French publisher extraordinaire Infogrames has announced that a version of Test Drive has gone into production for the PlayStation 2.
"The new Test Drive has everything necessary to be the best racing game ever," said Laddie Ervin, Director of Marketing for Sports and Racing at Infogrames. "With superior technology, lightning quick racing action and the stunningly realistic graphics, it's going to blow the competition away this fall."
The Test Drive series has been inconsistent of late, with recent PlayStation and PC versions getting a frosty reception.
The PS2 game, as yet unnamed, will be developed by Pitbull Syndicate and an entirely new graphics engine will be implemented.
