US attorney and anti-games crusader, Jack Thompson, is to face a disciplinary hearing before a referee appointed by the Florida Supreme Court. Thompson will face five counts of professional misconduct.
Among the accusations Thompson faces are three relating to the case of
Strickland Vs Sony in which he went up against Sony, Take-Two, Rockstar, GameStop and Wal-Mart before resigning from the case.
However, Thompson is suing right back. Asked about the complaints against him, Thompson said, “The trial isn't going to happen, however. I have sued The Bar in Circuit Court. It's in far more trouble than I am.”
Thompson told SPOnG that the case against him is "all a sham". To support this, we (and we’re sure several other media outlets) received the following from the desk of Jack today:
“The complaints have nothing whatsoever to do with protecting the public from an unethical attorney. I am trying to protect the public from unethical companies who use the tactics of the Mafia to try to destroy a whistleblower.”
“The Bar is fully cooperative with this SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) endeavor, in violation of state and federal law. That is why I have sued The Bar in state court, and that is why I shall win.”
His petition demands, in a nutshell, that the complaint filed by the Alabama State Bar be removed or solved by a meeting between the two parties.
