Scarface Heading to Nintendo’s Family-Friendly Wii

Say hello to my Wii-tle friend!

Vivendi is to bring its ultra-violent videogame version of the magnificent Scarface to Wii. The Wii Remote will be used for fist-fighting, chain-saw wielding and shotgun-aiming, amongst other cool-sounding control options.

While Nintendo has aggressively courted the non-traditional markets with its Wii marketing campaign (‘the lapsed, the ladies and the elderly’) and most Wii titles to date have been clearly in the ‘family-friendly’ camp, it’s good to know that a major third party publisher is still keen to bring a clearly adult-themed game to the console.

Scarface: The World is Yours is currently getting the Wii-treatment along with the necessary Wii Remote control functionality and is set for release later in 2007. SPOnG will confirm the exact date with Vivendi as soon as possible.

SPOnG wonders if you will be able to use the Wii-remote to mimic the action of sniffing up a huge pile of blow (as in the latest Wario Elephant-trunk move!)? Or perhaps this would be one step too far for the family-friendly console!

However, for those of us who have already played the game to death (sic) on PS2 or Xbox, how genuinely exciting is the news that a Wii version is now set to follow?

I'm all for it personally. I couldn't give a s**t about the game myself but this signifies that the old company is starting to gain favour with the third party developers - something it's been lacking for years.
