CES: amBX Gets The rFactor
Philips has just announced its teaming with Intel Corporation and Image Space Incorporated on rFactor. The companies will work together to make the racer amBX enabled.

The addition of amBX technology to rFactor Special Edition 2006 will inject a nifty dose of realism to the title. The ‘ambient experiences’ system will deliver effects such as road surface vibration, variable airflow over cars and both environmental and dynamic lighting. ‘Dynamic lighting’, if you were wondering, means track lighting conditions, crash flashes and explosions, and various vehicle-related effects such as brake lights and dashboard information lights.

rFactor will be used to showcase amBX technology at the Intel All-Stars event hosted at CES this week.

Jo Cooke, Chief Marketing Officer for Philips, seemed pretty chuffed, commenting:

“Thanks to the ongoing feedback of the gaming, modding and racing communities, the rFactor series and associated amBX effects will evolve side by side and the Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme processor will enable this experience to be delivered to the consumer in the best possible way. This is the start of an exciting revolution for the car racing gameplay experience.”
.

Philips has kept the amBX news coming thick and fast at CES. Today’s announcement coming hot on the heels of yesterday’s product launch.

Image Space joins the rapidly growing ranks of amBX adopters. The list of companies already involved includes Gas Powered Games, Codemasters, Introversion, Kuju, THQ, Revolution, Sumo Digital, Philips Peripherals & Accessories and Logik 3.
