Microsoft: '1% of 360's Bricked. Fix inside 24 Hours'
As you are reading this, Microsoft should be just about ready to fix a problem that bricked out a number of Xbox 360 hardware sets following a somewhat botched Dashboard update earlier this week.

As you will have read in this piece posted yesterday, a fatal, console-killing error impacted some users who were hit with "System Error E71" rendering their machines useless. Microsoft declined to comment on the issue yesterday, probably because it was in the early stages of figuring out what went wrong. Today, though official channels, it outlined its stance claiming only 1% of users were hit:

"A small percentage of consoles were affected negatively by the fall update (less than one percent have reported issues). We’re working with those affected to get them back up and running, whether that be by providing another console or fixing their existing console. We’re committed to resolving this issue."

Speaking with SPOnG today, a Microsoft spokesperson clarified, "We’re aware that a very small number of Xbox 360 customers have been experiencing some issues with their console after the Autumn Update has been applied. We’re working with each customer individually to resolve any problems. Any Xbox 360 customers who have any issues with their console should contact the customer service team on (UK) 0800 587 1102.”
