Whilst a number of American pretenders to E3’s throne have tried to capitalise on this week’s earlier news about the downsizing of the LA-behemoth-show, the Tokyo Game Show 2006 goes quietly about its business, in a typically underspoken Japanese manner.
Show organisers are predicting that next month’s show (September 22-24, Makuhari Messe exhibition center, Tokyo) could well be the biggest to date, with 143 exhibitors already booked and many more expected to do so over the coming weeks.
As SPOnG reported recently,
Sony’s Ken Kuturagi will be giving TGS’s opening keynote speech entitled, "Next Generation Entertainment Made by the PS3". This will doubtless be the big news of the show, be it good (which Sony is praying to its gods of consumer electronics for) or, like E3, a bit of a damp squib (which both Microsoft and Nintendo obviously wish to see).
As ever, SPOnG will be sure to have one of our men out there on the hallowed TGS concrete, to bring you the news as it happens.
