Half-Life 2: Episode 2 – Greatest Game Ever?

PC, PS3 and 360. Includes Team Fortress 2 plus loads more.

Valve’s Gabe Newell finally spilled some magic beans on the next instalment in the Half Life 2 series, while speaking at EA’s annual summer press shindig in San Francisco this week.

First up, get ready for this. Half Life 2: Episode 2 will release simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Wow!

Next up, the game will come bundled with not one, but two extra games – the classic Team Fortress 2 and a new title called Portal, which Valve are billing as ‘an experimental puzzle FPS where your gun shoots portals, allowing for an entirely new way to interact with environments and enemies’.

The Half Life 2 goodness doesn’t even stop there. In addition to all the aforementioned content, console gamers will also receive copies of the original Half-Life 2 (still one of the greatest games ever in this writer’s opinion) and Half-Life 2: Episode 1, thus allowing them to experience the entire series. Again. Just...woww! Again!

We await further details on a release date, though we expect that we should be seeing Half-Life 2: Episode 2 this side of Christmas. Rest assured we will be badgering Valve for the news over the coming weeks.

If the consoles are going to get hl2 and episode 1 included with this release then i fully expect it to come at a $70 or possibly higher premium. That is a heck of a lot of good gaming content to be selling at the regular episode cost of $20 or so bucks.

Despite this...this is great news for console gamers.
