Prey has just ‘gone gold’, as games industry types love to say, which basically means it’s done and dusted and ready to flog to eager fans of 'first-person shooters with a twist'.
Prey, should you not already know, tells the story of Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic stuck on a reservation going nowhere. Abducted along with his people to a menacing mothership orbiting Earth, he sets out to save himself and his girlfriend, and eventually his planet.
The PC demo of the game has already been available for a week, although
as we reported last week, 2K Games are still having some issues getting the Xbox 360 demo up onto Marketplace.
SPOnG spoke to a 2K Games rep earlier today who assured us they are doing everything they can and that the 360 demo should be up “in the very near future.” We hope so. We are itching to give it a go. The game, based on the Doom 3 Engine, features some interesting stuff, including spirit-walking, wall-walking and something called 'the Deathwalk' which allows you to fight back to life when you die. Indeed, if we don’t get hold of the 360 demo soon, we will be walking up the walls in real life!

In the meantime, you can look forward to playing the full game when it releases in North America on July 11 and in Europe on July 14.
