Konami of Europe has announced that, as of today, it will be henceforth known as Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. The move comes as Konami undergoes an internal restructure, with the new title representing the unification of the company’s many divisions.
The change will take affect at the start of Konami’s new financial year, and will act as an umbrella title for Konami’s existing core business of console and PC titles, arcade games, mobile phone releases, and new additions to the company portfolio. The holding company structure will be effective as of March 31st, and the newly established and wholly-owned subsidiary Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has been introduced specifically for European territories.
As part of its remit, Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH will continue to be a leading innovator in its fields. Forthcoming titles in the 2006/2007 financial year will include Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 and further titles in the phenomenally popular Yu-Gi-Oh!™ franchise.
