THQ Wireless Inc., a leading publisher of mobile games, announces one of the most extensive portfolios of arcade hits for mobile phones with the launch of the Midway titles. The games will become available during this month, and in January and February 2005, and will be available from most major networks and for most Java-enabled phones.

James Scalpello, marketing manager at THQ Wireless said, "I am sure that these titles will bring back some great memories for many an 'old' arcade gamer as well as introducing these classic titles to new players. Midway was one of the founders of the video game industry and I am delighted that THQ Wireless has been selected to bring their much-loved titles to mobile phones. And to make sure that every aspect of the arcade game culture is faithfully reproduced, we are also developing ringtones and wallpapers for each of the games."

The new titles are:

Defender
Described as one of the top ten most influential arcade video games of all time, Defender first launched in 1980. In the new mobile game, users must pilot their space fighter across the world to save the planet from hordes of swarming aliens.

Joust
A truly addictive game, users saddle up their ostrich and do battle with winged enemies including knights on vultures and pterodactyls.

Marble Madness
Players must roll their marble around a 3D world, evading traps and enemies, posting their score on the central highscore boards.

Mortal Kombat
Based on the blockbuster fighting game and icon from the 90s, players select from four warriors and then fight their way around the tournament in a no holds barred blood fest.

Robotron 2084
This game broke all records for displaying the most enemies on screen at one time when it first came out in 1982. The mobile version sees frenetic action as humans must wipe out hordes of robot enemies who are determined to destroy the civilised world.

Root Beer Tapper
Players must serve drinks to their customers before they get to the top of the bar. This games calls for lightening-like reactions to serve as many customers as possible without breaking any glasses.

Spy Hunter
Combining racing action with spy gadgetry, players must drive to survive using an armoury of weapons to outwitting drivers armed with machine guns, bomb throwing helicopters.
