The deal involves the formation of a partnership that will be responsible for financing and developing the game. Due for completion in Q4 2004 the game is headed for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC. The partnership will deliver the completed game to the publisher using resources provided by Juice and Fund4Games.
The intellectual property relating to the game will also become the property of the partnership during development to prevent external factors from affecting the project. This will give a high degree of assurance to the publisher that the product will be completed on time and budget. Once the project is successfully completed, the intellectual property for the game will transfer from the partnership to Juice.
"As development budgets increase exponentially, new transparent financing models like this will become more prominent. Not only do Fund4Games provide security for the developer but they allow the publisher to focus on launching, marketing and supporting the game," said Colin Bell, Juice Games’ Managing Director. "We are proud to be working with Fund4Games on this project and see it as part of a whole new way of approaching development from start to finish. We will certainly be looking at this option for our new concept, which will be handled by a second development team”.
Tim Gatland commented “We are delighted to be working with Juice Games on this project. They have demonstrated a huge depth of technical and artistic skill and we believe that we can work together to create a world beating product”.
