Electronic Arts, the world's leading interactive entertainment software company, today announced that it is inviting Harry Potter fans to live their dream of a Quidditch victory and compete in the first-ever Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup videogame tournament event.

Videogame enthusiasts in the UK can find out full details of how to enter the Quidditch World Cup Videogame Tournament at the official website, www.quidditchworldcup.com, or via official entry forms in Woolworths stores nationwide.

The first round of the Quidditch World Cup Videogame Tournament will take place on November 15th at seven Woolworths big W stores – Beckton (East London), Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, Norwich and Stockton-on-Tees. Entries for the tournament will be accepted at any Woolworths store nationwide between the October 24th and the November 9th. The contest is open to UK residents between the ages of eight to 14 years. No purchase is necessary.

Twenty lucky participants will be chosen at random from each of the seven regions to go head-to-head on the Nintendo GameCube playing Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup videogame. The three players who achieve the highest score from each region will go forward to compete in the national final on November 29th at the design studio where the Quidditch World Cup videogame was created in Chertsey, Surrey. An overall UK Quidditch World Cup Videogame champion will be crowned at this event.

The UK Quidditch World Cup Videogame Tournament champion will then win the opportunity to represent his or her country in the international finals on December 21st at a secret location in the United Kingdom. The Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup International Grand Final which is being sponsored by Nintendo GameCube will feature champion Quidditch World Cup videogame players from countries around the world, including France, Germany, Spain, Australia, Japan, Italy, and the UK, all competing for the prestigious world champion title and Nintendo prizes.

In the Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup videogame, Harry Potter fans will for the first time be able to fully experience the magical power, speed, and competition of Quidditch, the favourite sport of witches and wizards. By using the Nintendo GameCube at the Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup International Grand Final, fans will also be able to experience the exclusive connectivity between the Nintendo GameCube and the Game Boy Advance. This connectivity allows players to work together on the same team as one player takes on the role of the seeker using the Game Boy Advance whilst the other player plays as the Chaser.

Under development by EA's UK studios, the team behind the worldwide success of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets games that have sold over 20 million copies worldwide, the new title is scheduled to be in stores in UK on November 7th, 2003. Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup will be available for the Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, and PC-CD.
