Our European sister paper CTW Benelux this week stated that the console will now be launched on November 17th, rather than the originally slated October 26th, three weeks later than announced. CTW Benelux has reported that the main reason for the delay, according to Sony, is the production target for the United States. Sony wants to be sure to reach its US target of 620,000 pieces, only then the production for Europe of the long
awaited console will begin.
The official price of PlayStation 2 has also been confirmed at 1.199
Guilders, which converts to £345 GBP, or 22.500 bfr, which converts to
£355 GBP; 400 Guilders (£46) more than expected. CTW predicted a price point of £299 GBP (CTW 19/05), the difference in price could be explained due to European territory differences.
