THQ Wireless, a subsidiary of leading videogame publisher THQ Inc. and Verizon Wireless today announced that they will launch a range of wireless games on Verizon Wireless’ Get It Now service. The first game, available immediately, is THQ’s successful WWE Mobile Madness. Verizon Wireless and THQ have structured a relationship that allows for a large suite of applications to be rolled out over the next several years.
WWE Mobile Madness for wireless phones is currently available on select Get It Now-enabled handsets. Designed as an innovative way to further extend the reach and branding of World Wrestling Entertainment, WWE Mobile Madness features Superstars Kane and Undertaker. Players select from one of five different classes of Superstars and can either play as their own favorite Superstar or create the ultimate Superstar. Opponents have to be selected from the same class competing for the maximum number of points for attacking, defending, moving, grappling and overall health.
Doug Dyer, General Manager of THQ Wireless said: “THQ recognizes that Get It Nowsm is a premier distribution outlet for wireless games in the U.S. THQ is actively developing new games for Get It Now-enabled handsets with at least five more titles planned for launch over the course of the next few months.”
Verizon Wireless customers who purchase a compatible full-color Get It Now phone can purchase WWE Mobile Madness directly from their handset by downloading the application, which is available for $2.49 USD monthly access and $7.49 USD for unlimited use, in addition to airtime used. Get It Now phones are available in more than 1,300 Verizon Wireless Communications Stores, at participating RadioShack stores, or on the Web at www.verizonwireless.com.
