O2’s Games Arcade is available in the UK, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands, running on the Nokia 3410, the Siemens M50 and a range of new Java-enabled devices.
Under the terms of the agreement, THQ is licensing many of its hit games to mmO2 for inclusion in the O2 Games Arcade. These include Astrosmash and MotoGP. New games currently under development at THQ may also be made available through mmO2, with plans to add about three new games to the Arcade each month.
Tim Raby, head of games for O2 said: “We went through a stringent selection process prior to launching the Games Arcade to identify the most suitable publisher for this innovative new service. THQ Wireless has proven experience and skill in the development of games specifically for mobile phones - a particularly demanding environment in which to work. Their games are being very well received and we look forward to new titles in the months ahead.”
Adam Comiskey, Commercial Director of THQ Wireless commented: “We’re delighted to be working with mmO2 in the O2 Games Arcade. We are continuing to add new titles to our portfolio with the goal of developing games that not only have great graphics and compelling gameplay, but have fast download times for optimal consumer value.”
