MOBO and Mercury Music Prize winner Ms Dynamite and the legendary Elvis
Presley head up an absolutely incredible artist line-up, as Konami brings
its best-selling Dancing Stage series to PlayStation 2 for the first time.
Due for release in May, the PlayStation 2 title - entitled Dancing Stage
MegaMix - marks the continuation of the hugely popular Dancing Stage
franchise. In celebration of the series’ debut on the PlayStation 2 format,
however, Konami of Europe has unveiled the franchise’s most incredible
line-up of talent to date.
Ms Dynamite’s ‘It Takes More’ and the incredibly successful Elvis Vs JXL’s
‘A Little Less Conversation’ lead a roster of ten well-known dance tracks,
which also includes ‘Freak Like Me’ by The Sugababes, Christina Milian’s
‘When You Look at Me’ and ‘The Love Cats’ by The Cure.
Kylie Minogue, whose ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’ track was used to such
great effect in the recently released Dancing Stage Party Edition for PSone,
is also represented with ‘Love at First Sight.’ Further titles will be
announced at a later date, but Konami of Europe has announced that Dancing
Stage MegaMix will also feature 21 original tracks created by members of
Konami’s many Japanese development studios.
Dancing Stage MegaMix is part of Konami’s family-orientated ‘Bemani’ range
of music titles. Using either a PlayStation controller or a special dance
mat accessory (available separately), players must match the relevant
buttons as they appear on the screen. Bonuses are awarded for free-style
moves, with additional tracks and hidden items unlocked as the game
progresses.
The PlayStation 2 game also includes a number of gameplay modes; including a
straight conversion of the arcade game, the option to practice with favoured
tracks, or master the basics via a tutorial mode. The hugely popular
‘Calorie Counter’ idea also returns, with users able to view how much energy
they burn while in play, making Dancing Stage MegaMix an ideal and fun
addition to the user’s fitness routine. Players can also compete against
each other using two dance mats or a separate controller with both aiming to
accrue more points than their rival.
Dancing Stage MegaMix will be released for PlayStation 2 in May 2003; price
TBC.
