Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint iOS Nominated For BAFTA as Massive Update is Completed
Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint, the critically acclaimed #1 hit sports / puzzle game for iOS, has been nominated for a BAFTA, just as developers The Pickford Bros complete a massive update to the game, adding new features and content.
The prestigious BAFTA Video Game Awards Nominations for 2012 were announced last week, with Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint named as one of only six games in the Mobile & Handheld category, alongside products by big hitters EA, Nintendo and PopCap.
Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint has also been nominated in the Most Innovative Game category of the Pocket Gamer Awards 2012.
"It's great news that a tiny original game like Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint is getting recognition from the likes of BAFTA," said co-designer John Pickford, "and shows that the industry is starting to appreciate high quality games, even if they don't have the flashiest graphics, or jump on the latest fad."
"We're flattered to be included in this year's BAFTA nominations list," said co-designer Ste Pickford, who launched a stinging criticism of the structure of the BAFTA awards late last year, "and it shows that great games are all about great ideas and playability, not enormous budgets and massive marketing campaigns. We hope our nomination encourages more people to seek out fresh, innovative titles like ours."
The Pickford Bros have completed work on a major new update to Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint. Version 2.0 will contain several improvements, as well as new features and content:
* Pegs added to new Classic Game tables
* Struts added to new Classic Game tables
* UNDO feature
* REPLAY feature
* 20 new Tricky Classic Game tables
* 20 new Fiendish Classic Game tables
* Squish prototype added (a potential future Arcade Game)
* ISMMTTM prototype added (a potential new game)
* Hall of Fame added
* Relentless Arcade Game now free
* New icon and logo
* Usability improvements and bug fixes

"We've spent a lot of time working on tweaks and improvements, as well as adding lots of new content, including some special treats for Skeleton Key owners," said Ste Pickford. "In fact, we're adding so much new content - all of which Skeleton Key owners get for free - that we're going to have to bump up the price of the Skeleton Key when version 2.0 launches," he continued, "so anyone considering purchasing the Skeleton Key should grab it now while it's still at a low price."
"We will still continue developing Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint further after this update," added John, "with ideas in the works for new tables, new Arcade modes, and some other variations which we will prototype in the game, but we also plan start work on other products once this update is available."
Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint is published by Zee-3 and is available as a universal app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch devices, and is available on the App Store right now for free.
The game has received glowing reviews and earned second place in the Puzzle Game category of the 148apps.com 2011 Best App Ever Awards, has been named one of the 100 Greatest Apps Of All Time by Tap! Magazine, was crowned App Madness Tournament Champion in September, received a Gold Medal award from Pocket Gamer, and has secured a Metacritic rating of 81.
