LOS ANGELES – (May 11th 2000) Ubi Soft Entertainment and Light and Shadow Production (LSP) are teaming up to produce a new video game based on Inspector Gadget, licensed by DIC Entertainment (Disney). Inspired by the popular 80s animated series, Inspector Gadget catapults this comic cartoon and Disney movie hero into a hilarious 3D adventure for the Game Boy Color and the PlayStation game consoles in late 2000.
Clumsy rookie cop John Brown suffered a near-fatal fall, slipping on a banana peel while apprehending a criminal. A pioneer in the world of robotics, the surgeon that saved his life also equipped him with dozens of quirky crime-fighting devices. Inspector Gadget, the top detective of Metro City, was born!
The first version available will be for the Game Boy Color. Designed by RFX Interactive, this game offers players the chance to foil the plans of the evil Dr. Claw and his vile henchmen in five wacky worlds (containing four levels each). Armed with gizmos galore, players utilize their “Go Go Gadget” roller skates, spring-loaded legs, hammer-hat and more, to thwart nefarious foes and escape from sticky situations. Players slip on their detective cap and can complete objectives as Gadget, his super-sleuth niece Penny, or Brain, Penny’s loyal crime-fighting canine. Full of platform pranks and outrageous obstacles, prepare for high-tech high jinks with Inspector Gadget.
Inspector Gadget will be available in the UK for Game Boy Color and PlayStation in Autumn 2000.
