Vision Sound Music is the UK's first event of its kind, a three day festival celebrating the unique relationship between audio and visual cultures.

Posted by Staff
Vision Sound Music will bring the music, advertising, games and film worlds together to provide an unprecedented line up of night time entertainment and daytime educational and industry events, with a schedule including The London Philharmonic Orchestra presenting a history of video game music, Ok Go, Nitin Sawhney, Gilles Peterson and Kutiman.

Focusing solely on the meeting point between music, film, advertising and games, Vision Sound Music will be an extraordinary place to learn and experience the ways in which music and sound elevate visual culture.

Taking place at the Southbank Centre on 2nd, 3rd and 4th September 2011, Visions Sound Music is produced in partnership with the creative agency Fallon, the video game festival GameCity and Sound and Music (SAM) the UK's leading organisation for contemporary music and sound art. The festival is presented in association with Music Week and supported by the Music Publishers' Association, the Musicians' Union and PPL.

Festival director Andrew Missingham, comments:

"Video Games from Heavenly Sword to Little Big Planet are taken to the next level by music. In film, from classic scores like Bernard Herrmann's 'Psycho' to the smart soundtracking of Scorsese and Tarantino, music is an essential dramatic component. Brands and adverts from Eno's Microsoft jingles to Cadbury's drumming Gorilla, are at their best with music in their heart. And in the digital space, from OK Go's treadmills to Kutiman's YouTube collages, music makes visuals come alive. It's high time music's essential role in all visual culture is celebrated"

As well as exciting evening events, Vision Sound Music aims to provide an unparalleled business to business opportunity for members of all visual industries connected and enhanced by music to discover the latest ideas and technologies within the sync community. The festival will be a platform for all people who make content for which music is an integral part, to exchange knowledge and challenge current industry models.
