London/Tokyo (January 6, 2000) -Sega Enterprises, Ltd. of Japan, Sega Europe and Sega* of America, Inc. announced today they have signed a peripheral manufacturing licensing agreement with InterAct Accessories, a Recoton* Company (NASDAQ: RCOT), for the 128-bit, Internet-ready Dreamcast* videogame console. Sega has licensed its technology to InterAct, allowing them to design, manufacture and market licensed peripherals and accessories for the popular Dreamcast. The agreement covers all territories worldwide, excluding Japan.

InterAct currently produces twelve products for Dreamcast, including the StarFire Lightblaster* and the Concept 4* Racing Wheel. Under the non-exclusive three-year agreement, InterAct can develop and distribute licensed Dreamcast peripherals and accessories for the system including such items as controllers, rumble paks, light guns, memory cards, steering wheels and fishing controllers.

“As demand for Dreamcast continues to grow worldwide, we are looking to partner with more industry leaders to expand the gameplay possibilities with the system,” said Shoichiro Irimajiri, president of Sega Enterprises, Ltd. “InterAct has a proven track record for creating high-quality videogame peripherals and accessories. Their licensed support for Dreamcast will be a real benefit for retailers, as well as consumers.”

Kazutoshi Miyake, Chief Operating Officer of Sega Europe, commented. “This is further good news for both Dreamcast and our gamers. Working with Interact we can continue to ensure that our peripherals range is of a high standard and covering the full range of products to maximise playing enjoyment on Dreamcast. As with previous agreements this move will help to stamp out unlicensed manufacturers which are not compatible to the Dreamcast range.”

“Dreamcast has raised the bar for success in North America and Europe with more than 1.5 million units sold in those territories this fall,” said Todd Hays, InterAct founder and president. “We’re very honoured to be part of this success and carry the Sega official seal of approval.”
