Namco Bandai has released some new screenshots, a trailer and details for the upcoming Dark Souls II. And it still looks bloody hard, and quite terrifying.
The game, a direct sequel to 2011's Dark Souls (itself a spiritual sequel to Demon's Souls), will feature "a wide range of threats [that] will prey on human senses and phobias - auditory hallucinations, vertigo, acrophobia" among others. So as well as staying true to its hardcore gameplay roots, FROM Software seems to be digging deeper into the human psyche.
Also promised are more customisation options, fluid motion capture animations, an upgraded combat system and balanced progression. Updated multiplayer mechanics "enables improved online interaction to bring forward cooperative & competitive play," which is also nice.
