Flogging hardware - especially new hardware - in a global market during a huge, fat, ugly recession is not an easy thing to do. Bless him though, SCEE president and CEO Jim Ryan is doing his best with the Vita despite apparently saying two contradictory things in the process.
Mr Ryan tells MCV, "One of the encouraging things about (competitor Nintendo's) 3DS’ sales performance at Christmas is that it is confounding the naysayers who say that there is no room in the market for a dedicated handheld gaming device. And to that extent we were encouraged by how 3DS did over the last month."
Very fair indeed. He's then asked whether "the appetite for 3DS (could) pose a danger to Vita?"
“There are two distinct markets,” is his reply.
