Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, is due to donate half of his wealth to various charities, it can be revealed.
He will play a part in a scheme known as The Giving Pledge which will see the co-creator of the popular website join in with 17 other new tycoons as part of a charity foundation coordinated by Bill Gates and Warren Buffet.
Others joining in the charity drive are fellow Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz and AOL creator Steve Case together with such famous names as George Lucas, and founder Oracle, Larry Ellison.
The pledge details that Zuckerberg will provide half of his wealth to the good cause with the majority of that wealth tied in with Facebook assets.
Zuckerberg added in a statement that "People wait until late in their career to give back. But why wait when there is so much to be done?"
"With a generation of younger folks who have thrived on the success of their companies, there is a big opportunity for many of us to give back earlier in our lifetime and see the impact of our philanthropic efforts."
