Earlier today UK tabloid, The Daily Star, ran a story (we won't call it news) that suggested that a GTA game was going to be made of the recent shooting revenge rampage of Raul Moat. Outrage ensued, at least among the Tweeting members of the games industry... Star 'readers' are apparently not allowed to comment. The suggestion was based on a mock-up of a 'game' called 'GTA Rothbury'.
Following enough outrage to sink a story, the story was pulled. We can only imagine that Rockstar's lawyers bent a few ears over at the
Daily Star's head-sewer.
There's a screenshot here for you too to be outraged at. If that's not enough to have you champing at the bit regarding the antics of an notoriously lowest-common-denominator 'newspaper', don't forget the
Google cache. Turn to that so you can be even more outraged at how such a 'newspaper' could find it plausible that the video games industry might produce a game in which someone went on a bloody, gun-toting revenge rampage wherein he shot innocent victims.
Outrageous!
