A nibble indeed, but we need someone to translate the following piece of Michael Pachter voice-flob for us please:

Speaking to the LA Times about the downturn in video game sales in 2009 (and the 4% rise in sales in December), the Wedbush Morgan analysts came up with the following:

"Thank God this is behind us. The momentum is moving in the right direction, particularly as we lap miserable music sales."

Most of it makes analyst-sense, but what the hell does "lap miserable music sales" mean? A prize for the most plausible explanation.

I think he has got confused between overtaken, and overlap, and then reduced the word length for no reason at all. so he just means that games sales have overtaken dreadful music sales. Simple.

When you're in a race, and you pass someone who is a lap behind you, it's called 'lapping' them.
I think he's saying that video games are a lap ahead of music sales. Or something.
