Summary

Pool and snooker have long been video game standards. But just because something has been done before doesn't mean it can't be done better, and that's what Oxygen Interactive is aiming to do with 8Ball Allstars. The game brings a selection of pool rule-sets and tables to the DS, with combined with real-world physics.

If you thought pool cam in one flavour, 8-ball - you have a big surprise coming, 8Ball Allstars includes 3, 6, 8, 9, 10 ball, straight pool and rotation UK & American rule sets, each offer an exciting new challenge. There are seven table types to play on, and a selection of different playing environments. But the important part is the pool itself, developers Code Monkeys have gone to town on the real world physics - you can control your shots with pinpoint accuracy. Set spin and power ad place your ball with pinpoint accuracy. As you progress through the game, you can unlock new playing locations, and even new table shapes. Ever played pool on an hexagonal, or even an "L" shaped table? Now's your chance. You can even use your stylus to sketch your avatar and table signature.

There are 12 computer opponents, each with different levels of skill, but using DS Wireless, you can take on your friends, and send messages during play.

8Ball Allstars aims to be the best pool game on the Nintendo DS, but it could well be the best pool game on any platform.
