Summary

SOCOM 3 offers gamers the opportunity to command an elite team of US Navy SEALs in 12 intense counter-terrorist missions, in single-player mode or across a range of multiplayer game types amongst the online SOCOM community. The twelve missions take place in three hostile locations: Eastern Europe, Northern Africa and Southern Asia.

For the first time in the series, SOCOM 3 features land and water-based vehicles in a central role, and they're all at your disposal should you need them. You may well need to use them frequently too, as developer Zipper Interactive's streaming environment technology means that explorable environments are much bigger than in previous SOCOM releases. A new customisable weapons system is part of the SOCOM 3 deal too, and this system allows players to utilise more than 30 different weapons and attachments, including scopes, silencers and grenade launchers.

There's a neat link-up feature with the simultaneously-released SOCOM US Navy SEALs FireTeam Bravo game on PSP, in that mission goals can be influenced in either game by first completing Crosstalk objectives in one title and then synchronising the saved data with the other title and vice-versa.

SOCOM 3 offers one of the top squad-based battle experiences short of joining the TA or volunteering for service. Whether you choose to dress in fatigues for extra realism is entirely up to you.
