Summary

NFL Football is back on the PC with Madden 2002. For the 12th year in a row, you can knock helmets with the NFL big boys. If anyone knows how to make an American Football game, it’s Electronic Arts, and the 2002 edition is the best one yet.

American Football can be a little confusing to the unconverted, but essentially, it’s a simple game. The idea is to make it into the other teams endzone to score six points. You have four attempts to move the ball at least 10 yards in order to keep possession. The team that scores the most points within the time limit wins.

New for the 2002 version is a brand new graphics engine. This tweaked and improved engine brings an unprecedented level of detail to the players and the stadia. If your graphics card is up to the challenge, Madden 2002 is a beautiful game. Good graphics help to immerse you in the game and get lost in the experience. When the pressure is on, it’s easy to forget you’re only playing a game.

You can create your own team from scratch and pit them against the best the NFL has to offer. Balance your team strengths and take them all the way to the Super Bowl. Comedy player names are optional, and recommended! Whether it’s your own team or a professional outfit, you can challenge other players to an Internet game. Other new features include improved physics and accurately reflected time-of-day lighting effects.

If you need to satisfy your American Football fix, Madden 2002 is more than adequate.
