Summary

You probably didn't start out intending to be the kind of leader who shrugged and got back to business as soon as your a group of your citizens fell in the snow and stopped moving. It's just that... well, you've got big decisions to make. Managing a city is a tough job, and nowhere is that truer than out in the cruel, post-apocalyptic frozen hinterland of Frostpunk.

The game is a city building sim, but one with its very own look and feel. You're operating in a truly frigid world with technology at a premium. Humanity's survivors have turned to steam technology to keep them warm in this forbidding wasteland, and so you must get to work digging coal and creating a city that can survive.

Survival isn't quite enough, however. Frostpunk might be the only simulation game with Discontent and Hope used as guages of your success. You can't just create a world that can be lived in - it has to be worth living in, too. So when one of your citizens gets injured and is no longer able to work, it might be worth feeding them anyway. At the same time, resources are scarce and too many bleeding heart choices might take you to the brink of disaster...

Frostpunk comes from the studio that brought us This War of Mine and, like its predecessor, dips into contemporary themes despite its science fictional setting. It'll have you contemplating climate change, resource scarcity, equality and whether to legalise cannibalism in no time.
