Summary
There are a few videogames studios out there that you know are a safe pair of hands with certain series - EA Vancouver with FIFA, Infinity Ward or Treyarch with Call of Duty, Yukes with anything wrestling-related and, in the breakneck world of cycling, Cyanide Studio with the Tour de France games. As of the 2019 season the studio has 15 years of experience with the official Tour de France license under its helmet, but that doesn't mean it's resting on its laurels. To celebrate 100 years of the iconic Yellow Jersey, the studio is back with new content, improved features and a few tweaks and changes designed to entice new fans into the fold.
The biggest change is the addition of a multiplayer mode that will allow players to take on up to three other racers simultaneously online. On the single-player front, a new world championships mode will allow gamers to lead either a team or a national team through a season and, if their results are up to scratch, put a rider in the World Championship. On the more technical front, the AI has been souped up and a new home menu is designed to make things more user-friendly.
Of course, all the official content fans have come to expect is present and accounted for - there are 761 cyclists racing through 21 attentively recreated stages of le Tour, and that's before you even account for other events such as La Vuelta. There are 200 races and 600 stages in all! Negotiate contracts, manage your team, plan strategy and training and vie for new sponsors, then execute on all of the above as you hit the course.
This year out cycling fans will be pleased to see the legendary Tour of Flanders make its debut, alongside Paris-Roubaix, Paris-Nice and the Critérium du Dauphiné, too!
