Summary

With the insane popularity of LEGO and the Harry Potter series, it makes sense that the two came together and created a brick-based adventure. This collection enables you to relive all seven years of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with all the blocky charm of the Danish toy from the events in the Sorcerer's Stone, the Chamber of Secrets, the Prisoner of Azkaban, The Goblet of Fire, The Goblet of Fire, The Half-Blood Prince and The Deathly Hallows. As well as all the content of the two LEGO Harry Potter games, this compilation also includes two rounds of DLC.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4

Like LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones before it, LEGO Harry Potter is packed with platforming action and curious brick-building activities. LEGO studs are your currency, littered around the levels, and these can be used for customisation and unlockable features. Throughout the adventure, you will get the chance to attend lessons in Hogwarts and interact with professors to learn new spells and potions.

Various kinds of puzzles appear in each stage, and with your chosen character from a roster of over 100 including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger you need to use your spells and broomstick-flying skills to great effect. As you would expect, there are plenty of locations from the Harry Potter universe to explore, be it the village of Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, the Forbidden Forest or even Hogwarts Castle.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7

Harry and friends are back in the second LEGO Harry Potter game. As the title suggests, this one covers events from the last three books in the series as the good guys shape up to face off with the evil wizard Voldemort once and for all. Taking a slightly less serious look at the stories (but still sticking very much to the plot), Years 5-7 gives players the chance to end the tale their way.

Over 150 characters are collectible in the game, all of whom have their own unique skills. Sure, you can play as anyone from the main cast, but sometimes you'll need to call on some unlikely people at one point, you'll even get to be Harry's father. As in all the LEGO games, you'll need to collect studs from each of the 24 levels in order to progress through the game, unlocking new characters and freeing friends and colleagues. There's also plenty of video and cutscenes for you to discover as well as the ability to upgrade your magic abilities by attending classes at Hogwarts.

The tongue-in-cheek humour that you'd associate with the LEGO games is in Years 5-7 in spades, often toning down some of the more serious elements of the stories. Whether you're a fan of the books looking to have more fun in the world of Harry Potter or just after a good old fashioned collect-em-up, this is the game for you.
