Summary

It's the year 1615 and a new shogun has risen to power in Japan, seeking to bring peace to the troubled realm. Sometimes, though, the best way to bring peace is with just a little violence. It's not a job for armies and brute force, though, so the shogun puts five specialists with talents for espionage, sabotage and espionage.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a stealth and strategy game played from a classic top-down 3D perspective. Players must guide and control five characters as they sneak, sabotage and murder their way through lush landscapes of the Edo period of ancient Japan.

Strategy and planning are the order of the day, though they do say that no plan survives contact with the enemy! Each of your characters has their own particular strengths and you'll need to use them carefully to complete your missions. Hayato is an agile ninja who strikes from the shadows; Samurai Mugen, the tank of the group, relies on strength; Aiko is a geisha and master of camouflage and distraction; Yuki specialises in traps and deception; while Takuma uses his sniper skills for ranged attacks.

The real magic, however, comes from how you combine these characters for maximum effect. Most of the time you'll have at least a couple of characters in play, and Shadow Mode even lets you line up actions from each of them to deadly effect!
