Summary

X-Isle Dinosaur Island has had a strange afterlife. It was a tech demo that launched developer Crytek as a major studio, before even the first Far Cry had launched. Now, 15 years on, it emerges in re-imagined form as Robinson: The Journey, one of the first wave of titles for Sony's PlayStation VR.

Borrowing from the book it takes its name from, Robinson: The Journey casts players away on a mysterious and remote planet and demands that they survive amidst massive dinosaur-like creatures while they try to find out what happened to the other members of their crew.

The game is all about wow factor, immersing players in another world through the power of virtual reality. In a lot of ways it borrows from the toolbox of Jurassic Park, offering players those same wow moments that cinema-goers got when they first saw dinosaurs on the big screen in the 1990s. The difference here is that they're not just on the big screen - they literally seem to be towering above you.

The game offers a mixture of exploration, 3D puzzle solving and climbing that will be familiar to anyone who played Crytek's earlier VR game, The Climb.

Strand yourself on an alien world and open yourself up to the power of virtual reality!
