When Sony announced its PlayStation VR hardware, it's unlikely that many people thought 'what virtual reality really needs is a VR remake of a not-quite-2D shooter'. But, there's a reason why we're not videogames developers and the folks at D3t Ltd are.
What we have here, for the first time ever, is the opportunity to jump into the cockpit and take Super Stardust's trademark blaze of action to the planet's surface in a specially developed new mode called Invasion Zone. The mayhem and neon bursts of colour are all present and accounted for, but now you're right in there, immersed in the action. Obviously this mode is not fodder for the series' traditional twin stick shooter controls. Instead, players simply look to aim/target, then pull the trigger!
D3t hasn't forgotten Super Stardust's roots, though. Super Stardust Ultra VR also supports all the other nine classic game modes, now more immersive than ever thanks to the 360 degree view that PlayStation VR offers! Blast your way through wave after wave of foe in frenetic shooting action that's a whole new level of crazy thanks to PSVR.
Super Stardust Ultra VR isn't the only game offering you the chance to climb into a cockpit courtesy of PSVR, but it's likely to be the most spectacular!
