Summary
Things are not going well for the human race.
It's 20 years since world leaders offered unconditional surrender to alien invaders and XCOM, Earth's last line of defence, was left decimated. On the surface things don't look too bad - gleaming new cities reach toward the sky, promising a bright future, but they mask a sinister agenda and all who dissent are disposed of.
But hope remains. Out at the edges of the world some humans still live free, and they have gathered together to reform the scattered remains of XCOM and mount a resistance.
What that means, of course, is a different sort of XCOM game. The remaining forces are on the run and trying to gather the resources they need to rise from the ashes and liberate the human race.
The action centres on the Avenger, an alien supply craft that's been converted to serve as XCOM's roving headquarters. Players can do research to develop and upgrade the Avenger to give it new capabilities, then take it into action in a range of missions, with community modding tools meaning there can be endless variation!
New gameplay systems offer more flexibility in combat to match XCOM's new guerrilla combat style. Use concealment to ambush enemy patrols, loot enemies for gear and rescue VIPs to harry your enemies!
