Summary

As soon as you read the name on the front of the box you get a sense of what Agents of Mayhem is all about, though if you played developer Volition's Saints Row series you probably didn't need any big hints. The game is a third-person sandbox shoot-'em-up with a heavy emphasis on over the top action and visuals.

The plot revolves around the Morningstar and his shadowy organisation, LEGION, who have some sinister designs on both their home turf, Seoul, and the world! You control a team of Super Agents, each with their own special abilities, charged with getting in there and getting the situation resolved - whatever it takes. The big, no holds barred action players have come to expect from Volition is definitely on show here with big moves and property damage galore.

The art of mayhem really comes to the fore when you hit upon the right combination of Super Agents for the mission and your play style. You put three of them on a team and switch between them at will, so combining the right power sets yields explosive results.

Agents of Mayhem is basically a superhero shoot-'em-up, and it has the cel-shaded bawdy neon visuals to go with that feel. In a nod to its forebear, the Saints Row series, there's also plenty of purple in the colour palate to add a touch of familiarity, too.

The main difference between Agents of Mayhem and a traditional superhero game? The Avengers are going to be less encouraging of large scale property damage!
