Summary

EVE is a bit of a no-brainer for virtual reality. Any game with a cockpit makes a lot of sense for virtual reality, really. It gives players the freedom to look around their cockpit and the world beyond it in 360 degrees without the control scheme hurdles that, say, a traditional first-person shooter would present. And, as the biggest cockpit-based game in town, it makes sense that EVE is among the launch titles for PSVR, bringing sci-fi space dogfights to virtual reality.

The game has a great premise that nods to the tropes of videogames while offering a perfect conceit for competitive multiplayer modes. The game starts moments after your death as your consciousness is downloaded to a new body. In Valkyrie, upon death a pilot's consciousness is uploaded to a central server and then redistributed to another ship. There, you can access 'memories' - or training missions, really - and once those are done with it's on to pretty much pure multiplayer action.

As you'd expect, moving your head moves Valkyrie's camera, which enables you to not only see in 360 degrees, but also to get a weapons lock on an enemy by looking at them. The rest of the controls, happily, are controlled more conventionally with your DualShock 4.

Players will battle each other across orbital shipyards, inside massive enemy carriers and through asteroid fields in massive, immersive space battles that bristle with intensity.
