Summary
The premier (and, if we're going to be honest, only) football role-playing game is back!
Ten years have passed since the events of Inazuma Eleven 3 and football has gotten completely out of control. Schools are now dependent on their football teams to survive and in order to make sure no schools go under the Fifth Sector (the game’s version of the Football Association) have stepped in.
Somehow the Fifth Sector are even more evil than the real F.A. and their solution to the problem is to regulate games. Everything is staged, from results to scores and anyone that goes against orders will be punished.
When the game's hero, Arion, joins Raimon Football Club and finds out the truth behind the sport he is outraged and sets out to put things right. He has a tough job ahead of him, though. Teammates are falling out with one another, the Fifth Sector is trying everything they can to ruin Arion’s plans and even the club’s chairman is against you. But he has enough enthusiasm to knock cynics aside and change the sport forever.
The game plays out with turn-based football matches and drama populated by weird and wonderful characters.
When you’re not running around you get to play football and the game’s approach to the sport is like nothing you’ve experienced before. Everything is done with use of the stylus. Dragging players into positions and tapping them to pass. If you get close enough to the goal or an opposing player the game stops and you’ll have action choices. You can block or try a sliding tackle, charge at a defender or try and skilfully skip past them.
The most fun you’ll have with Inazuma Eleven Go, however, is found within team building. Each member of your team is genuinely unique and you’ll love some and hate others. However, the game lets you replace those you don’t like with ones you do and there are no lack of players to choose from.
As your players build into a team you’ll start to pick out your favourites and as a result of your connection with each player, you’ll enjoy the matches a hell of a lot more. It’s a great feeling when a defender you’ve spent time levelling up makes a last ditch challenge to keep you ahead in the game.
Coupled with some beautiful graphics the game oozes charm and keeps you interested enough to see it through to the end.
