Summary
The Dreamcast classic top-down shooter, Under Defeat, gets a new lick of paint and some glorious upgrades as it moves to the high definition generation. But what hasn’t changed is its retro approach to gameplay and story - as a lone chopper, your mission is to traverse across land and sea to avert an oncoming global war!
Graphical updates to the game in its HD transition include rumbling tank suspensions, more extravagant explosions and highly detailed clouds of smoke, alongside improved artwork, textures and shadowing. If nothing else, the additional clarity will enhance your ability to play the game - a typical bullet-fest where your only friends are your machine guns and the power-ups you collect in the sky.
Under Defeat HD includes a New Order mode, which makes use of today’s modern TV sets and presents a field of view that’s around twice the size of traditional vertical scrolling shooters. The result is an increased range for movement and play tactics. Alongside traditional control options, players can also choose to play Under Defeat as a twin-stick shooter, using the right control stick to direct gunfire.
The deluxe edition of the game includes downloadable content, a digital art book, soundtrack CD, an exclusive chopper to control, and a letter from G.rev CEO, Hiroyuki Maruyama.
