Summary

If you've spent much of your life playing games, there's a fair old chance you've done some time trudging around sombre, grey post-apocalyptic wastelands. Because everyone loves a good fictional apocalypse in which no-one actually gets hurt, right? Right. They've definitely earned their place in the gaming landscape. Wouldn't it be nice, though, to get a ravaged environment with a bit more colour to it? Well, Krater's here to cater to that need.

The game is set in a science-fictional world in which everyone lives around the edge of an indescribably-vast crater. Since the bomb that created this gigantic pock on the landscape went off, entire cities and even nations have arisen around the rim of the crater, while at its centre is an abyss of unknown depth. You won't find 49 different shades of grey in this landscape, however. Expect lush Nordic forests and red wooden cottages.

It's against this backdrop that you must venture into the crater, meeting factions such as the Free-diggers, who explore vast tunnels looking to unearth pre-armageddon technology. You won't have to do it alone. Krater is based around squad-based play, blending action RPG elements with the top-down play of classic dungeon crawlers.

Persistence is a key feature, and injuries will follow you around just as experience does, with permanent death an ever-present threat.
