Summary
Rune Factory Oceans moves the Rune Factory series of games from the Nintendo DS to Sony's PlayStation 3 as it challenges the gamer, in a variety of games and minigames, to achieve closure and happiness for the two main characters, the brash Aden and his cheerful friend, Sonja.
The two characters begin the game in their peaceful island town before a wicked and mysterious curse is wished upon them, knocking them out cold.
They awaken to find that they've been transported to a strange new island. Things are even weirder than that, though, as the curse has taken hold - meaning that the souls of our heroes have been taken from their owners' bodies and flung together into one new body.
The player must learn how to make this relationship – and other relationships with the colourful characters they meet along the way - including the giant golem Ymir – work in order to return to their proper state of being.
They must also defend their new home from the mysterious and horrible masked stranger who threatens to destroy it. Aden and Sonja must learn to sail the seas as well as explore landscapes and dungeons packed with riches. They must also keep themselves alive by farming fertile islands, as well as learning how best to battle against fearsome monsters.
All of this means that player must master tasks such as running a farm, crafting unique items to gift or trade and competing in various local festivals. Plenty to be getting on with!
